Creating Porch Charm

Hi everyone,

I few years ago I decided I needed to get some pieces made by a woodworker that I could paint and use as porch decor. So he made me this planter box. The end pieces resemble birdhouses and it has two little birds at each end. At first it became the cat's napping box and she ruined the plants! But I lost the cat about a year ago, so now it is back to being a planter box. I have to admit, it was cuter with Kitty-Kitty in it!

I had a bench made for the porch where I could change into my gardening shoes and put my seeds and gloves. It becomes a catch-all frequently and I have to clean it off. It has storage underneath for all the little garden stuff. The gloves are painted on---meant to fool the eye. I need to touch up the painting a bit, as it does get some rain on it occasionally if the wind blows just right.

Here it is from the front. The things on the front of the doors are 3 dimensional pieces cut from wood and painted, while the bunny and pot on the end of the bench is painted on. This was so much fun to do and does add a bit of charm to the porch! Click on it for a closer look and to see the "I'm in the Garden" sign.
Happy Creative Gardening to you!
