Hi everyone, I have been looking through a beautiful book by Lesley Holmes, A Cotswold Sketchbook, and thinking about how very much I would like to go there to paint, sketch and take photographs. I have looked up many towns there on the internet and the scenery is so quaint and charming! Have any of you been there? I would love to hear about it, if you have! Do any artists out there know of a painting holiday there. Maybe one would do better just going on her own with a friend or fellow artist instead of an organized painting holiday. Let me hear from you if you have been there!
Egretta; Yes I have been there! It's only about an hour's drive from where I live. It's very picturesque (in the Summer time especially), but some of the villages (such as Broadway and Bourton-on-the-water are very "touristy" and not really authentic any more.
ReplyDeleteIf you come over on a painting holiday, we must meet!
It does look beautiful! I hope some fellow bloggers out there will have some tips.
ReplyDeleteMark, where would be the most authentic and beautiful and quaint scenery and do you have any tips, know any great B and Bs, etc. Email me if so. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteKelli, see if you can come across that book, perhaps at the library. It is really lovely.
It is quite beautiful, and I can see why the book would charm, such lovely illustrations. Bourton on the Water might be touristy (that would be me, the tourist))))...but I adored it.
ReplyDeleteGardeningbren, I looked up images from Bourton on the Water and thought the scenery was gorgeous!
