I just returned from a mini vacation to Sanibel and Captiva Island on the west coast of Florida and also to Fort Myers. I just had to take a photo of the delicious Key Lime pie we had at one of our meals. It was truly spectacular in appearance and presentation, as well as flavor. The crust was made from gingersnaps with a hint of grated coconut and the filling was creamy with just the right amount of lime flavor and topped with real whipped cream! Double Yum!
Look at the beautiful sauce surrounding the pie!
And check out this wonderful sunset! This photo
was taken on the beach right across from our hotel.
We stayed at a place called "Tween the Waters" and it had a complex of beautiful buildings and cottages, all very colorful and tropical. My brother and sister-in-law were here for a visit and this was out "treat" to ourselves!
Here is one of the pretty little cottages you can rent for longer periods of time. I love this photo with the sea grape tree in the foreground, casting shadows on the house. This may be a subject for a future painting!
I will have to say that it was fairly cold the first day and really windy. We almost froze picking up sea shells on the beach! Sanibel is noted for being one of the world's best places to find shells. As soon as I get my shells washed and sorted, I will post my findings.
We stayed in this building and our rooms were decorated with a lovely tropical theme and overlooked the heated pool and cabana bar area. It was very tropical and gorgeous!
Back to reality, now!
Some real works of art there Egretta, in buildings, food and Nature! The Key Lime Pie looks good enough to paint as well as the cottage.
ReplyDeleteThe key lime pie looks scrumptious and so well presented - might be on a par with irish pavlova. The hotel looks lovely too.
