Minnesota Petunias

Hi everyone,

It is miserably hot here at Ten Gables. The thermometer on the back porch says 94 degrees, but that is in the shade!

I have just returned from Minnesota and it was cool, in the 50s. What a difference. I will say, though, that in Minnesota one day early last week it was 103 degrees! Then the temp dropped drastically in a day! The weather seems to be doing strange things the world over!

I photographed these lovely petunias in Minnesota. We cannot have them here for long in Florida. In fact, it is almost a waste of money to buy the plants here unless in the winter. I do love petunias and these had such a lovely mix of pinks.

I hope it is pleasant weather where you are....care to comment??

  1. We in New Zealand are in our winter months but so far we have been blessed with the mildest May since records began! Though I must admit I am looking forward to the spring flowers already.

  2. In the UK, after the driest Spring ever, we are now experiencing June temperature that are way down on the average. At least we have had a bit of rain over the last 10 dys or so...

  3. These are beautiful...I have found that my petunias last longer if moved to mostly shade come summer.

  4. Shoestring Cottage, I hope you have a mild winter! Mark, your plants look so lush compared to our parched ones. Glad you are getting rain! Darla, thanks for the petunia tip. I think next time I plant them, I will use pots that I can move to the shade come summer!

  5. Petunias are an Irish garden staple! They do really well here and must be one of the top sellers. We have gotten two days of warm weather - must be almost 70F - I have finally gone two days without wearing a sweater to work! P.S. Come to ireland and you won't be so hot in Florida!
